Cigar Songs
This is a list of songs about cigars that include lyrics, the list is divided between those in which the cigar is the main theme of the lyrics, and those which mention the cigar but not as the main theme. This division is not always clear-cut. We hope that more songs about cigars will be written in the future, it might inspire us to smoke more cigar, while listening to these songs.
PINK FLOYD LYRICS
"Have A Cigar"
Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar.
You're gonna go far, fly high,
You're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try;they're gonna love you.
Well I've always had a deep respect, and I mean that most sincerely.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.
Oh by the way, which one's Pink?
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy
we call it Riding the Gravy Train.
We're just knocked out.
We heard about the sell out.
You gotta get an album out,
You owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count.
Everybody else is just green, have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start, it could be made into a monster
if we all pull together as a team.
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy
we call it Riding the Gravy Train.
BRAD PAISLEY LYRICS
"The Cigar Song"
Well I'm a sucker for fine Cuban cigars
The problem is I can't afford 'em
But last year I went and got myself a whole box
And just to be safe I insured 'em
[Chorus]
I took out a policy against fire and theft
And then I hurried home
With a thirty-cent lighter I sat on my back steps
And I smoked 'em one by one
Two weeks later I went to see that insurance man
And I handed in my claim
With a straight face I told him that through a series of small fires
They'd all gone up in flames
[2nd Chorus]
They reviewed my case and they had no choice
But to pay me for what I'd done
And I took that check and bought a whole new box
And I smoked 'em one by one
Two weeks later this detective shows up
Tells me that company's pressin' charges
One speedy trial later they locked me up
On twenty-four separate counts of arson
[3rd Chorus]
And now I sit and I stare at a blank brick wall
Lookin' back on what I've done
To pass the time I've got some ten-cent cigars
And I smoke 'em one by one
Yeah, I smoke 'em one by one
JETHRO TULL LYRICS
"A Small Cigar"
A small cigar can change the world
I know, I've done it frequently at parties
Where I've won all the guests' attention
With my generosity and suave gentlemanly bearing
A little flat tin case is all you need
Breast-pocket conversation opener
And one of those ciggie lighters that look rather good
You can throw away when empty
Must be declared a great success
My small cigars all vanish within minutes
Excuse me, mine host, that I may visit
A nearby tobacconist
To replenish my supply of small cigars
And make the party swing again
I know my clothes seem shabby
And don't fit this Hampstead soiree
Where unread copies of Rolling Stone
Well-thumbed Playboys
Decorate the hi-fi stereo record shelves
If you ask me they're on their way
To upper-middle-class oblivion
The stupid twits, they roll their only
One cigarette between them
My small cigar's redundant now
In the haze of smoking pleasure
Call it a day
Get the hell away
Go down the cafe
For a cup of real tea
By the tube station, there's a drunk old fool
Who sells papers in the rush hour
I hand to him ten small cigars
He smiles, says, ``Son, God bless you''
A small cigar
Has changed his world, my friend
A small cigar
Has changed the world again
A small cigar . . .
MARIO VAZQUEZ LYRICS
"Cohiba"
Whoo
Im a boss so I hit her with the little head game
I can tell she like to taste sweet things
First thing I met her for sense a switch go
Damn I been gone too long
She know what the business was
I told her to get at it
Took the lead promo static
Puerto Rican mix sweet tone
Only promise she was with this cat standing 6'4"
She said I ride my own (check)
Go away (check)
Don't worry bout it your just another pay (check)
She said I aint gotta ask anything I want (yet)
I said what that's called when you move it like (that)
She kept reiterating she had a thing for (sex)
A man and another man she tried (yet)
So I pulled back put it up another drink
She like tell me what you think
Gotta just take another puff
[Chorus x2:]
She wanna smoke cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
Can I smoke your cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
She wanna smoke my cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
Can I smoke your cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
She told me not to think how could I hesitate
Who would love the chance
Just to give it to me
I knew it the things I would do to her
But I keep thinking me him and her
But the obvious told me believe her
Heard that she giving me the fever
Slow up ma and kick back
While I think about what im gon do with that
She said I ride my own (check)
Go away (check)
Don't worry about it
Your just another pay (check)
She said I aint gotta ask anything I want (yet)
I said well
What's that called when you move it like (that)
She kept reiterating
She had a thing for (thing for)
A man and another man she tried (she tried)
So I pulled back put it up another drink
She like tell me what you think
Got to just take another puff
[Chorus x2:]
She wanna smoke cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
Can I smoke your cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
She wanna smoke my cohiba
You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
Can I smoke your cohiba
You gotta work for that

[Fat Joe:]

And he gon pay me now
He sound crazy cuz he aint got paying
And you aint staying now cash talk

You gotta work for that
Gotta work for that
Herman's Hermits lyrics
”The Man With The Cigar”
The man with the cigar walked on up to where I was workin' this mornin'
The man with the cigar said that I was workin' too slow
& if I didn't speed it up, he'd have to let me go
I'm workin' like a dog, so why's he always hangin' around me to hound me?
He's pushing me too far, & pretty soon my back is gonna break
I've taken all that I can take from the man with the cigar
[2x:]
I need this job & I need it bad
That's why I gotta keep myself from gettin' mad
The man with the cigar, I hope he doesn't push me too far
Yeah the man with the cigar
Yeah the man with the cigar
Yeah the man with the cigar
SCABS Lyrics
“Robbin' the liquor store”
Standin' by the store at a quarter to eight
Just before opening time
I look at my reflection gotta lose some weight
First I need a bottle of wine
Look at me now I got a smile on my face
And a brown paper bag in my hands
This is the way that I spend my days
The bottle is my best friend
I light a cigar as I walk to the bar
My head is killing me
I take breath and count to three
One for the road boy one for the road
I'm robbin' the liquor store
One for the road boy one for the road
I'm robbin' the liquor store
Jacky Jimmy Johnny I tasted them all
They're real good friends of mine
When we are together we're havin' a ball
We have ourselves a real good time
I light a cigar as I walk to the bar
My head is killing me
I take a breath and count to three
One for the road boy one for the road
I'm robbin' the liquor store
One for the road boy one for the road
I'm robbin' the liquor store
I noticed that I'm shaking like a leaf on a tree
It's nothing that a drink can't solve
I'm thinking of the person that I wanted to be
I told him not to get involved
I light a cigar as I walk to the bar
My head is killing me
I take a breath and count to tree
I got the shakes boy I got the shakes
I'm robbin' the liquor store
I got the shakes boy I got the shakes
I'm robbin' the liquor store
Millencolin lyrics
“No Cigar”
Tell us where you're from,
what you want to become.
And we'll say if you're OK.
Where did you go to school?
Right answer and you're cool.
Yeah, you're the kid the whole day.
You get a sticker in your face.
Information about the case,
so you know your potential.
Don't you think you can extend.
Don't you think you can extend, just comprehend.
But I don't wanna hear it,
no, it's more than I accept.
I don't care where I belong no more.
What we share or not I will ignore.
We will shut you out.
We'll put you in doubt.
If you think that you're special.
We'll tell you who you are.
Tell you that you're close but no cigar.
But I don't wanna hear it,
no, it's more than I accept.
'Cause I don't care where I belong no more.
What we share or not I will ignore.
And I won't waste my time fitting in.
'Cause I don't think contrast is a sin.
What they say is...
Go back, where you came from.
They'll tell you that, but I don't wanna hear.
No I don't wanna hear. No I don't wanna hear it.
No, it's more than I accept.
'Cause I don't care where I belong no more.
What we share or not I will ignore.
And I won't waste my time fitting in.
'Cause I don't think contrast is a sin.
No, it's not a sin. |
